Natural Home Remedies for Clear Skin

Natural Home Remedies for Clear Skin

1. LEMON JUICE
If you’re looking for ways to get clear skin, lemon juice is an excellent place to start. Lemons contain citric acid which kills bacteria-causing acne. It may have a stinging effect, so apply fresh lemon juice gingerly to your skin, and even mix in a few tablespoons of water to dilute the acid.

2. TEA TREE OIL
Tea tree oil is becoming a new fad for both skin care and hair, and rightfully so! The natural oil has anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties and can feel super-soothing on your skin. It is also claimed to work just as well as prescription-strength medicines, but at a fraction of the cost!

3. CHANGE YOUR DIET
In Cameron Diaz’s new Body Book, she discusses how cutting out refined sugars and processed foods helped to change her skin and get less breakouts. This makes so much sense since processed, junky foods release toxins in the body and don’t give you nearly as many nutrients as fresh, organic food. Remember to eat clean (think fruits and veggies and lean meats) and in turn, reap the benefits of clean skin!

4. SALT
Create a paste of salt and water and apply to any unwanted breakouts using a Q-tip. Salt is a natural styptic that helps seal pimples so no more dirt or bacteria can enter. It also helps dry-up pimples, making them noticeably smaller in a matter of days.

5. ALOE
We all know that aloe helps heal our sunburn and reduces the redness it causes, so just think how helpful aloe will be on a big red zit. Aloe is a natural anti-inflammatory and is also anti-bacterial. The best form of aloe to use is in its completely natural state—look in to getting an aloe plant and use the fresh, gooey aloe that comes from it. Aloe gel sold in stores is not as natural and won’t have as good acne-fighting properties.

6. ICE, ICE, BABY
Ice helps to constrict your blood vessels, which will help to reduce the size of a pimple, especially if you have just popped one (which is definitely NOT recommended as it can rupture your skin and cause scarring). Ice will help to heal the pimple and reduce redness.

7. HYDRATE!
This one sounds like a given, but often times we are not getting enough water on a daily basis. Water helps to flush out the toxins in your system and keep your skin hydrated. Remember to always drink plenty of water every day to keep your body and skin healthy.
